Fang Od, the last Kalinga tattoo artist

Fang Od is an amazing woman. When I met her she was 92 and she would work all day, cooking, cleaning, feeding animals, welcoming guests and of course tattooing people. She is the last tattoo artist of the Kalinga people, that have a very long tradition in this art. In the past women were heavily tattooed, more than men, that had to earn their tattoos killing enemies and cutting off their heads. It was really a great honor for me meeting her, spending a couple of days in her house and getting one of her tattoos in my arm.
